Everyone is having such a great time. The sound of laughter always gets to me because I missed out on family gatherings filled with love and good times. The Rebel Souls have been the closest thing to family that I’ve ever known and while I wouldn’t change that, I sometimes wish I had experienced this with my own family. My father is making it difficult for me to connect with them. He called me the other night talking more about the dangers of the life I live. I don’t believe he’ll ever understand that I’m not the same person. Sometimes I believe he still sees me as the carefree fifteen-year-old that didn’t have a care in the world. When something tragic happens to you that changes your life, the new you can’t exist in the same space as the old you. In addition to that, I grew into a woman under horrific circumstances.

I didn’t have my mother to answer my questions about womanhood or my father to tell me what to look for in a man. My choices were taken from me and I had no say so in my life while I was being held captive. My father refuses to see how Ephraim saved me and I will always choose him over them. He talks as is E is some neanderthal who goes around causing trouble. He couldn’t be more wrong. E is sweet, kind, and very loveable.. until you cross him. Then you have a problem. He can be savage when he needs to be and that’s what keeps our family safe.

It's been a few weeks since the SUV incident and as much as I want to relax and shrug it off, it’s actually kind of creepy that we haven’t received any more threats. The Rebels won’t rest until they know for sure that Zeke has dropped this ridiculous mission of revenge. He got what he deserved for what he did, end of story. Just when I’m about to clear my mind and enjoy the party, I look over at E. He’s holding his phone up for the guys to see and he looks as though he’s ready to kill someone.
